Tests Structure

Designed to assess the English language proficiency of candidates who do not have English as their first language.

Business Test

The aim is to place candidates in the different levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages so as to have an understanding of their level of English. The test consists of four sections.


Reading

25 minutes

  • This section measures grammar skills and reading comprehension competences. The passages used in this section come from a range of different sources in order to assess the ability to comprehend texts from several contexts.

Listening

15 minutes

  • This section measures how well candidates understand spoken English in different settings, mostly related to the work environment. The passages and questions are performed by native speakers of English with various accents.

Writing

30 minutes

  • This section measures the ability to express well in written English. This means producing written language that uses a wide range of vocabulary and grammar structures as well as an organized and coherent structure.

Speaking

10 minutes

  • This section measures the ability to speak English well. This section tests pronunciation (including intonation, fluency, etc.), accuracy and the use of a variety of discourse skills that are appropriate to communicate effectively.
